Rate: $50, 000 - $70,000
 
 
General Purpose: To secure major gift funding for Cathedral Home for Children (CHC) by developing a group of qualified donors assuring that as many as possible are retained as continuing donors to CHC. This position is expected to energize team members, persuade prospects and cultivate interest and participation in major fund raising, while also helping donors fulfill their passions and interests through their giving to CHC.

  • Help current and potential donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with CHC. Identify and engage potential donors that represent the highest giving potential.
 
  • Work with the Development Department to align efforts and set annual goals, assisting in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fund-raising goals and objectives.
 
  • Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other staff with their solicitation (e.g. provide development support and help with donor communications).
 
  • Plan and conduct programs and activities designed to increase CHC visibility with internal and external constituencies. Research and schedule opportunities to represent CHC at various meetings and events within Albany and Carbon Counties and Wyoming and outside of the state on behalf of CHC.
 
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors and prospects in accordance with performance targets set by CHC’s Board of Directors, Executive Director and the Development Department to maximize total gift revenue through gift planning, corporate and foundation relations, and annual fund strategies.
 
  • Ability to secure donor and agency information, create, and write effective proposals. Creation of timely reports that reflect current donors and performance.
 
  • Positive management of processes, deadlines, and budgets while adhering to the policies and procedures of CHC along with the ability to get along with peers,
 
subordinates and management, maintaining a positive and constructive attitude while solving problems. Ability to protect the mission, goals and values of CHC.
 
  • Conducts research to identify potential donor prospect strategies to match interest to various CHC program areas.

Minimum Requirements:
 
Education and Experience and Background:
 
  • Minimum 21 years of age at time of hire required.
 
  • Driving record of no more than two moving violations in a three year period or DUI within the last five years required.
 
  • Clean background, drug, and child abuse registry checks required.
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or human service related field
 
  • Must be willing to travel
 
  • Strong written communication skills with a proven background in interpersonal, organizational, time-management, oral communication, and teamwork required.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Two – five years’ experience in major or planned gift fundraising.
 
  • Ability to understand the needs and interest of leadership and major gift donors in order to develop relationships between them.
 
  • Interest and dedication to promoting CHC’s fundraising proprieties through developing excellent relationships with employees, board members, and leadership.
 
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas.
 
  • Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.

  • Initiative – Demonstrated ability in securing major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other private funding sources. Complete assigned duties with little to no supervision in a timely manner.
 
  • Adaptable and Flexible - Adapt to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities. Able to empathize with donors and clearly communicate CHC’s mission and values.
 
  • Administration - Completes written correspondence, forms, and data entry accurately. Efficiently prepares reports, forms, and other paperwork as required. Demonstrated ability in planning and implementing long- and short-range development initiatives in conjunction with strategic planning processes.
  • Teamwork and Leadership – Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with leadership, potential prospects, donors, and community members in a wide

range of roles. Able to work cohesively with all departments fostering effective working relationships within a team environment.
 
  • Communication. - Demonstrated organizational skills and experience in managing events and other complex activities in support of development objectives. Provide complete, thorough, and detailed guidance in written or spoken form. Asks appropriate questions when not sure of job requirements or duties.
 
  • Occupational - Demonstrate appropriate behaviors and expectations. Leads by example. Ability to exercise good judgment, to demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to development activities, and to use discretion in interactions with donors, prospects, volunteers, and others. Familiar with, interprets, and follows policy and laws regarding employment, clients, staff, etc.
 
  • Accountable - Takes ownership for responsibilities and actions. Completes necessary training.
 
Physical Demands and Work Environment: Light physical demands (i.e. spending hours listening and speaking; working on the computer and phone; driving to appointments and events; lifting light pieces of equipment and materials; and occasionally working long days, night, or weekends). Exposure to elements of rain, snow, ice, and sun while travelling or completing day to day activities is probable. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
